A deeply nourishing yoga class which involves 30 minutes of gentle iRest BodySensing movement and 30 minutes of iRest Yoga Nidra.
iRest® is a meditation practice based on the ancient tradition of Yoga Nidra. The practice is a way to acknowledge and release contractions and conditionings that hold one back from a deeper and more peaceful knowing.
The class begins with 30-minutes of BodySensing, a gentle movement practice focused on how sensation is felt in the flow of action. The second half of the class is dedicated to Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is a mindfulness practice carefully designed to enable ease of being. Most people lie in a comfortable position for Yoga Nidra, but some people prefer sitting or even standing for the meditation.
iRest was developed by Dr. Richard Miller, yogic scholar, researcher, author and clinical psychologist, who combined traditional yogic practice with western psychology and neuroscience.
iRest has been shown to be effective in scientific trials for conditions including chronic pain, sleep problems, depression and anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
iRest is simple to learn and easy to practice. It can be practiced by anyone who is interested, regardless of physical ability or experience with meditation. Find more on the iRest protocol here

ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Rebecca Sullivan began practise and study of Yoga and Meditation in 1993 and commenced teaching in 2004. Rebecca is passionate about integrating her knowledge of Western and Eastern psychology into her teaching of yoga and her classes always provide space for deep somatic exploration, stress release and relaxation. Rebecca has a focus on the special needs community and as a carer, she has a passion for helping other carers of people with disability. Her classes at GHGC are open to all interested, with the concession rate extended to carers. Rebecca also offers one-to-one yoga sessions for those requiring more tailored practice.
